329. George W⁶ MERRIS (Nancy A⁵ VAN GUNDY, David Jr⁴, David Sr³, Peter Sr², Male¹) was born in Scott Co, IL, near Naples February 3, 1843. George died February 1897 at 54 years of age.

He married an unknown person. Residences & events in George's life: Bluffs, Scott Co, IL. When the rest of his father's family moved east, he stayed behind. He served in Co H 116 Illinois Volunteer Infantry for 3 yrs, being discharged 8/1865. About half of that time he was in the hospital, spending 1 yr in Camp Butler Hospital (near Springfield, IL) 1904 Decatur, Macon Co, IL. A daughter said the family moved this year. It would have been without George, if his death date is correct.
