He married Shanna (Fitt) in Alaska, October 1, 1993. Shanna became the mother of Wyatt Earl FITT in Kenai, AK, October 2, 1994. Shanna became the mother of Danellie Jean FITT in Kenai, AK, September 1, 1996.

At 22 years of age Mark became the father of Riley Daniel FITT in Kenai, AK, September 23, 1982. At 24 years of age Mark became the father of Tyler Adam FITT in Kenai, AK, May 14, 1984. At 34 years of age Mark became the father of Wyatt Earl FITT in Kenai, AK, October 2, 1994. At 36 years of age Mark became the father of Danellie Jean FITT in Kenai, AK, September 1, 1996. He was the Charleston Holiday Tournament most valuable player during the 77-78 season, and also named to the Big 12 all-conference team. He received various other awards including all-area and all-state honorable mention. Following his high school career, he went to Lakeland College and was named to all-state his sophomore year. Alaska He received a scholarship for the Univ of Alaska on his sports ability and it was there that he picked up the nickname "the barge." It was also there he was named first-team Great North Conference.
