71. Rebecca4 VAN GUNDY (David Sr3, Peter Sr2, Male1) was born October 23, 1798. Rebecca died June 29, 1857 in Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH, at 58 years of age. Her body was interred in Belleville Cem, Adelphi, OH.

She married Michael WISSLER in Pickaway Co, OH, April 9, 1818. Michael was born in PA August 27, 1789. Michael died June 30, 1865 at 75 years of age. His body was interred in Belleville Cem, Adelphi, OH. Michael became the father of David WISSLER about 1825. Michael became the father of Amos WISSLER about 1835. Michael lived several places but finally settled near his son Amos. Supposedly he and Rebecca had 9 other children besides those listed, their names are unknown. Residences: 1830 Salt Creek Twp, Pickaway Co, OH, where he was listed in the census with 2 males under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-14, himself at 30-40, 1 female under 5, 2 females 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 20-30, and Rebecca at 30-40. Nearby was Hannah Van Gundy. He owned 1100 acres in the SW part of the Twp. 1840 Same address as before, there were living at his house 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 2 females under 5, and 1 female 20-30. 1850 Still in the same area, the only residents at his house at census time were himself, and sons, Samuel and Amos. Wife, Rebecca, was not listed there.

Rebecca became the mother of David WISSLER about 1825. Rebecca became the mother of Amos WISSLER about 1835.

Rebecca VAN GUNDY and Michael WISSLER had the following children:

child 230 ii. Delilah WISSLER.

child 231 iii. Amanda WISSLER.

child 232 iv. Samuel WISSLER. Samuel and brother, Amos, were still at home in 1850 according to the census.

child 233 v. Rachel WISSLER. She married Elijah L Tobias in Pickaway Co, OH, by Jacob Resler, MG, January 10, 1861. Elijah was probably a brother to Mary, wife of David Wissler...i.e. brother and sister married brother and sister.

child 234 vi. David WISSLER was born about 1825. He married Mary Tobias in Pickaway Co, OH, by Jacob Fry, MG, February 16, 1846. Mary was a relative of Elijah Tobias, perhaps even a brother. Elijah was the husband of Rachel Wissler, David's sister...brother and sister married brother and sister? Residences & events: 1850 Montgomery Twp, Ashland Co, OH. Apparently following his marriage he moved north where he was recorded at census time. "Marry" was listed in the same area but not at his house. In the same county at Milton Twp were George and John, while M and T were at Hanover Twp.

child 235 vii. Amos WISSLER was born about 1835. He married Sarah Spangler in Picaway Co, OH, by John Mowery, JP, April 27, 1855. He was still home in 1850 living with his father and brother, Samuel.
