228. Joseph T5 VAN GUNDY (Daniel4, David Sr3, Peter Sr2, Male1) was born in OH May 28, 1845. Joseph died 1915 at 70 years of age.

He married Eudora\Mary Kaisar. Eudora\Mary was born 1845. Eudora\Mary died 1910 at 65 years of age. At 33 years of age Eudora\Mary became the mother of Grace VAN GUNDY 1878. At 34 years of age Eudora\Mary became the mother of Ella VAN GUNDY September 1879. At 36 years of age Eudora\Mary became the mother of Joseph VAN GUNDY in Piatt Co, IL, 1881. At 42 years of age Eudora\Mary became the mother of Ralph VAN GUNDY 1887. At 54 years of age Eudora\Mary became the mother of Loren VAN GUNDY 1899. At one time Eudora was the organist at the Presbyterian Church of Monticello.

At 33 years of age Joseph became the father of Grace VAN GUNDY 1878. At 34 years of age Joseph became the father of Ella VAN GUNDY September 1879. At 36 years of age Joseph became the father of Joseph VAN GUNDY in Piatt Co, IL, 1881. At 42 years of age Joseph became the father of Ralph VAN GUNDY 1887. At 54 years of age Joseph became the father of Loren VAN GUNDY 1899. Joseph at 3, lived with older brother, Charles, and his new bride, Rachel, following the death of their mother. Following Rachel's death 4 years later, he went to Iowa to live with his 18 year old sister, Amelia Neal, who had married 2 years prior. Joseph fought in the Civil War and was in the battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. It was there he was wounded in the leg one night. The following morning doctors decided to remove the leg and from that time on, he used a wooden leg. A niece remembered opening a closet door after he died and the leg tumbled out. He had several occupations in his lifetime: He operated a grocery store which he later sold to A.B. Binder. He was a druggist with a partner, a German native who had arrived in 1867. 4/10/1872 He was the Treasurer of Monticello and also spent some time as county clerk. 1898-1912 He seved as postmaster of Monticello. 1880 Monticello Twp, Piatt Co, IL. In the census, he is listed as a druggist born in Ohio with parents both born in Germany. He had a boarder, Viola Walker, 20, living with him.

child 398 ii. Ella VAN GUNDY was born September 1879. Ella died 1881 at 1 year of age. Ella was listed as his step-daughter in the 1880 census.

child 399 iii. Joseph VAN GUNDY was born in Piatt Co, IL 1881.

child 400 iv. Ralph VAN GUNDY was born 1887. Ralph died 1907 at 20 years of age.

child 401 v. Loren VAN GUNDY was born 1899. Loren died 1907 at 8 years of age. TB claimed young Loren.
