He married Sarah "Sally" Snyder in Ross Co, OH, December 17, 1811. Sarah was born in Somerset, Somerset Co, PA 1796. Sarah died March 12, 1843 in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, at 46 years of age. Her body was interred in Old Sycamore Cem, Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH. At 15 years of age Sarah became the mother of Catherine VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, June 25, 1812. At 17 years of age Sarah became the mother of Anne VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, October 14, 1813. At 18 years of age Sarah became the mother of Michael VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1814. At 20 years of age Sarah became the mother of Mary Ann "Polly" VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1816. At 25 years of age Sarah became the mother of Sarah Ann "Sally" VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1821. At 26 years of age Sarah became the mother of Elizabeth VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, November 5, 1822. At 27 years of age Sarah became the mother of Melinda VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, September 9, 1823. At 28 years of age Sarah became the mother of Belinda VAN GUNDY in Crawford Co, OH, April 2, 1825. At 33 years of age Sarah became the mother of Benjamin VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, January 22, 1830. At 37 years of age Sarah became the mother of George VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, October 25, 1833. At 38 years of age Sarah became the mother of Hannah VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, November 18, 1834. At 43 years of age Sarah became the mother of Thomas Jefferson VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, November 19, 1839. Sally was probably a sister to Peggy who married John Van Gundy, i.e. brothers married sisters.

At 18 years of age Benjamin became the father of Catherine VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, June 25, 1812. At 19 years of age Benjamin became the father of Anne VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, October 14, 1813. At 20 years of age Benjamin became the father of Michael VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1814. At 22 years of age Benjamin became the father of Mary Ann "Polly" VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1816. At 27 years of age Benjamin became the father of Sarah Ann "Sally" VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, 1821. At 28 years of age Benjamin became the father of Elizabeth VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, November 5, 1822. At 29 years of age Benjamin became the father of Melinda VAN GUNDY in Ross Co, OH, September 9, 1823. At 31 years of age Benjamin became the father of Belinda VAN GUNDY in Crawford Co, OH, April 2, 1825. At 36 years of age Benjamin became the father of Benjamin VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, January 22, 1830. At 39 years of age Benjamin became the father of George VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, October 25, 1833. At 40 years of age Benjamin became the father of Hannah VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, November 18, 1834. At 45 years of age Benjamin became the father of Thomas Jefferson VAN GUNDY in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, November 19, 1839. Residences & events: Ross Co, OH, where he and Sally had their first 7 children He served in the War of 1812. 1823 Crawford Co, OH, where the last 5 children were born. 1837 Benjamin sold some land to Martha Holman, details unknown. 12/17/1839 Crawford Co, OH. Benjamin and Sarah transferred 80 acres located at S15 TL R15, described as W 1/2 of NE 1/4 to James R and Daniel Dunlap for $786.

289 i. Catherine⁶ VAN GUNDY was born in Ross Co, OH June 25, 1812. Catherine died February 21, 1879 in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, at 66 years of age. Her body was interred in Hillside Cem, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Co, IA. She married David I Jr Ford in Ross Co, OH, July 25, 1833. David was born in Ross Co, OH April 7, 1807. David died August 3, 1895 in Wyandot Co, OH, at 88 years of age. His body was interred in Sycamore Cem, Crawford Co, OH.

292 iv. Mary Ann "Polly" VAN GUNDY was born in Ross Co, OH 1816. Mary died April 2, 1868 in Wyandot Co, OH, at 51 years of age. She married David Goodman in Wyandot Co, OH, January 30, 1837. Residences & events: 1850 Sycamore Twp, Wyandot Co, OH, where the census taker found him.

293 v. Sarah Ann "Sally" VAN GUNDY was born in Ross Co, OH 1821. Sarah died August 23, 1852 in Wyandot Co, OH, at 31 years of age. She married Jacob Combs in Crawford Co, OH, September 6, 1837. Jacob was born in Ross Co, OH June 17, 1819. Jacob died April 30, 1907 at 87 years of age. Supposedly Sarah and Jacob had 19 children but they were only married 15 years before Sarah died at age 31, if her dates are correct as posted by the OH Gen Soc.

294 vi. Elizabeth VAN GUNDY was born in Ross Co, OH November 5, 1822. Elizabeth died January 20, 1906 in Lincoln, Lancaster Co, NE, at 83 years of age. Her body was interred January 21, 1906 in Wyuka Cem, Lincoln, Lancaster Co, NE. She married Levi Wilcox in Tymochtee, Crawford Co, OH, June 27, 1842.

295 vii. Melinda VAN GUNDY was born in Ross Co, OH September 9, 1823. Melinda died February 11, 1859 in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, at 35 years of age. She married Isiah Wert in Crawford Co, OH, December 18, 1842.

296 viii. Belinda VAN GUNDY was born in Crawford Co, OH April 2, 1825.

297 ix. Benjamin VAN GUNDY was born in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH January 22, 1830. Benjamin died June 10, 1873 in Galion, Wyandot Co, OH, at 43 years of age. His body was interred in Galion, Crawford Co, OH. He married Sarah Starkie in Wyandot Co, OH, November 23, 1850. He was a cabinet maker and carpenter. Residences & events: 1850 Crawford Co, OH. He was living with a family named Beales at census time.

298 x. George VAN GUNDY was born in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH October 25, 1833. George died November 27, 1907 in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, at 74 years of age. His body was interred in Old Sycamore Cem, Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH. He married Mary Elizabeth Swinehart in Wyandot Co, OH, December 26, 1858. Mary was born 1824. Mary died March 30, 1900 at 75 years of age. Residences & events: 1850 Salem Twp, Crawford Co, OH. At census time, he was listed as a laborer at 19 yrs of age.

299 xi. Hannah VAN GUNDY was born in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH November 18, 1834. Hannah died after 1888. She married David Hudson in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH, April 17, 1853.

300 xii. Thomas Jefferson VAN GUNDY was born in Sycamore, Crawford Co, OH November 19, 1839. Thomas died February 2, 1893 in Pulaski Co, IN, at 53 years of age. His body was interred in Buck Cem, Pulaski Co, IN. He married twice. He married Aranja Jump in Tod, Crawford Co, OH, November 9, 1861. He married Eliza A Burleigh Knepper 1892. Eliza was born in Oak, Pulaski Co, OH 1844. Residences & events: He served in the Civil War in the 12th Reg Co H, OVI 1879 Texas Twp, Crawford Co, OH. He bought some land from brother-in-law, Samuel Dunlap.
