The marriage notice said they were both residents of Decatur and were of legal age.
The newspaper carried the story of their wedding:
They were married "at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning.....The attendants were Miss Florence L VanGundy and John G Lee. Only the immediate relatives witnessed the ceremony. Following the wedding service a breakfast was served in the private dining room at the Hotel Orlando. Tonight there will be a reception at the Fagan residence....
The bride's gown was of flesh colored Georgette braided. She wore a large Georgette picture hat to match and carried a bridal bouquet. The bridesmaid wore pale green Georgette and large, white picture hat.
Many handsome and valuable gifts were received, among them a chest of silver. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a strand of pearl beads.
The couple will leave Wednesday for California. They are driving back and will make a leisurely trip, stopping at different points along the way. Their first stop will be at Jacksonville. They will also make visits in Concordia, Kan, Oklahoma, and other places. They will be at home after Sept 1 in Los Angeles.
The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs W H Fagen and has been especially well known in musical circles in Decatur as a singer of much ability. She has been studying music for some years and has appeared before many Decatur audiences as well as an chautauqua platform.
Mr and Mrs J F Newman of Cisco were out of town guests at the wedding."
