1827 NC, where daughter Louisa was born.

1830 Isum was not listed in any census that year. Where was this family?

1833 TN. Son Hiram was born there.

Bef 1839 Morgan Co, IN where he remarried and daughter Mary was born.

1840 Again the census taker did not find them. Were they on the move?

By 1844 IL, when son Henry was born.

11/8/1850 Wabash Precinct, Coles Co, IL, may have been the same address as the previous entry. The census taker recorded his name as Isan, age 45, a farmer but he had no property. He and second wife Mary, 36. had 5 children living with them: Louisa, 23 (why? where was he husband?), Hiram, 17, Elizabeth, 9, Hezekiah. 7, and John N, 6.

4/1857 Mode, Shelby Co, IL, where daughter Mary married.

bef 7/1857 Mo where daughter Eliza was born.

7/25/1860 Polk Twp near Beatyville, Adair Co, MO. was where the next census found the family. "Isham," 54, was a farmer with property valued at $400/395. Mary was 44 and children were Hezekiah, 15, Isaac, 6, and Eliza, 2. They were the only Guys in the county but daughter Louisa and James Vandeventer were in the same township..

1860s The children told of their parents hiding Union soldiers under the floor to prevent "Bushwackers" from getting them. Copperheads were rife in the area as evidenced by the riot at the Charleston, IL courthouse.

2/1/1868 Cumberland Co, IL. His current residence was not recorded when he bought 40 acres of railroad land there. He paid $9.00/acre for a total of $360 for the property located at S4 T09N R08E.

1870 Where was Isum that year at census time? On the move again?

1873 Sumpter Twp, Majority Point, Cumberland Co, IL, was where Isum and Hiram, were listed as Legal Voters.
