Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. Following retirement he returned to his roots, joined Jonathan Creek Christian Church which is located just across the road from his house, and was active in several local organizations, including the Moultrie Co, IL, Geneological Society, Kiwanis Club, Farm Bureau, Illinois Rifle Assn, American Legion, and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Ralph had been in a nursing home for quite some time before he died.
It was his second confinement there after suffering a stroke several
years earlier which left him in a dazed, confused, and sometimes
almost comitose, state. However, while in the nursing home, he was
accidentally bumped on the head, which instead of complicating the
illness, brought about a miraculous recovery. He returned home in
perfect health for his age.
Ralph's funeral was held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Reed Funeral Home of Sullivan, IL. Pallbearers were: nephews, Rick, Dale, and Greg Crawford; neighbors, Paul and John Shuman; and Dave Walker.
