1880 E Nelson Twp. The birthplace of Nelson's parents was blank on the census records and a nephew, Alvey Humphries,4, was living with him. Nelson, at age 42, was quite a bit older than Sarah B at 21, daughter Marty M, was 1. Nelson was a farmer.
1900 Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. Nelson probably never moved to Sullivan but since E Nelson is close to Sullivan, was counted as such. In the census his occupation was farming, Mertie was still at home, and there was another nephew living him, Willis A Howard, 3.

At age 82, Nelson was head of a full house....Sarah's relatives have moved in....her 89 year old father, James Martin, his 60 year old wife, Sarah, along with her brother-in-law, Harry Huddleston, 33 and his 3 year old daughter, Asa Evelyn. Sarah was also 60 years old that year. Next door was daughter Myrtie Carson and family.
The Powell family reunion minutes recorded him as the oldest person at age 85 in 1920, making his birth date 1835. Other records have his birth date as 1837, making his mother an unlikely 59 years old at his birth.
Nelson estate was probated 12/31/1921. His heirs included Myrtie M, L Bernice, Carrol D, and Mollie LB Carson, and his wife, Sarah B.
The Powell family reunion notes mentioned his death in 1922 but some place his death as early as 1920.
