7/13/1870 Henry Twp, Henry Co, IN. His little family lived next door to his parents at census time. Henry was a tanner by trade at age 26, with property valued at $600. Wife Amelia was also 26 and they had adopted a son, 10 year old Gough Rubin. Also living with them were Mary Fink, 36, a housekeeper, and her daughter, Annie, 7, as well as 19 year old farm hand, Willard Winingham.
6/30/1880 Same place. Family dynamics had changed. Henry and Amelia were both 37 and they had 8 year old son, Howard. However, Gough Rubin, 20, was then called a servant day laborer, and 5 year old (?unreadable) Thornburg, was also a servant.
1920 Neither Henry or Amelia can be found but son Howard and his family were living in Henry Co. Perhaps they moved into Henry's place after he died.
