Kim was an active member of the Arcola "Lawn Rangers", a comical drill team which performs in parades. In the words of columnist Tom Kacich, they are "people whose sights are set a little lower, people whose call in life is to entertain, to wear funny clothes and push rusty lawn movers down a street in a spectacular fashion, usually carrying brooms."
The group is made up mostly of Arcola citizens with a sprinkling of others, such as Dave Berry, columnist, an Urbana attorney, and a TV anchorman. They have become widely known and have even traveled to other states to perform as well.
Kim says he is now involved in the children's activities, baseball, soccer, and boy scouts.
As of 2004 he has been business manager of the Ford dealership in central Illinois for 7 years..
