Van Gundy Family Tree

Notes for Matthew PURVIS

He was a frail child and continued into adulthood with a weak constitution, making farming a difficult way of living.

Residences & events:

1840 Fleming Co, KY, recorded in the census there as a farmer.

1850 Bath Co, KY. He had moved prior to the next census.

1860 Fleming Co, KY. Apparently there was no place like home.

1870 Cross Roads, Rowan Co, KY, near Farmers where he remained until his death, perhaps moving to be near children there. He owned 63 acres on which he raised dairy cows, selling their products while his wife wove and sewed for neighbors.

He was a straight-ticket Republican.

He probably predeceased his wife.
