It looks like this family moved often but in reality they moved within a very small radius as all places listed below are close.
6/20/1900 Bourbon Twp, Douglas Co, IL. The census taker recorded Joel's age as 20 and Ida's as 18, married 5 years, and lost their only child. Joel's occupation was farmer.
5/9/1910 Lowe Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. Listed in the census as Joseph Hendrixson, 29, he had been married 14 years to Ida, 27, who had birthed 5 children, 2 of whom had died. Those surviving were Alford E, 9, Harold E, 5, and Wilber J, 1. Joe's occupation was house carpenter.
1/8/1920 N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. That census taker recorded Joel at age 40, Ida at 38. Their children were Alfred, 18, Herald, 15, Wilbur, 11, and Virginia, 6. Joel was a general farmer and they rented their home.
4/21/1930 Lowe Twp, Moultrie Co. Having moved back across county lines again, Joel, 50, had married at age 17 to and Ida B, 47, who was 15 at that time. They rented their home but did have a radio for the full house that included son Alferd E, 28, his wife Opal, 27, daughter Virginia, 16, and Alfred's daughter Betty J, 8. Joel was still a general farmer and Alfred was farm laborer.
According to the 1900 census taker, Joel was born 8/1879 which also agrees with the 1930 census which says he married at age 17.
