6/5/1900 N Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. David, 28 (should be 38), had been married 15 years to Nancy M, 27, (should be 38 also). Nancy had birthed 6 children, all living: Gustavia, 15, David H, 12, Walter G, 9, Grace, 8, Mabel, 4, and Raymond, 10 months. David was a farmer. Next door was the John and Jane Abston Whitley family. (Six days later David was counted with his parents as a foreman on the railroad.)
4/20/1910 Same place. That year in the census were David, 48, farmer, married 24 years to Maranda N, 47, with 6 children, one of whom was deceased. Maranda was a school teacher. Children in the house were Harrison, 22, Walter G, 20, Mabel, 15, Raymond, 10.
1918 Humboldt, North Okaw Twp, Coles Co, IL. He, his wife and family as well as his farm of 140 acres located at S4 was recorded in the county's area farmers listing. He had been a county resident since 1863 (not 1862 when he was born???).
1/15/1920 Same place. The census recorded David and Maranda Daily, both 57, living alone but next door was son Walter. David was a general farmer and owned the home free of mortgage.
4/19/1930 Lafayette St, Mattoon, Coles Co, The census taker found the old couple had retired, moved to town and were living alone. David, 68, had married at 23 to Maranda, 67, who was 22 at that time. David owned the home which was valued at $10,000, a fair amount for the day. Mattoon was filled with Daily relatives.
