1820 Perryville Twp, Bond Co, IL. He was listed in the census as "Randle" with a household consisting of 2 males aged under 10, he was 16-26, 1 female under 10, and 1 at 16-26. Next door was brother Elisha with their parents and brothers John and "Mills" just down the road as well as several Duncan in-laws..
Fall, 1826 The family arrived in Moultire Co, IL. He and his sons followed the family tradition of being horse racers and fighters.
Shelby Co, IL. He was one of the first County Commissioners as well as Justice of the Peace.
1830 Clark Co, IL. At census time he and brother-in-law, Samuel Lindley, were next door neighbors. Randolph had living in his house: 1 male under 5, 1 at 5-10, 1 was 10-15, he was 30-40 years old, 1 female at 15-20, 1 at 30-40, and 1 at 50-60 (his mother-in-law?).
1/1/1834 Coles Co, IL, was his current residence when he purchased 2-80 acre pieces of land at a Federal Sale for $1.25/acre. One plot was located at S29 T13N R07E, the other at S20 T13N R07E. Most of his sons had moved west before he came to Coles.
1840 Big Creek, Rives Co, MO. By the next census, Randolph and brother John had moved and lived 3 doors apart. Other Coles Co, IL names also living there included Waggoner, Price and Webb so they probably all moved together. Randolph's family included: 4 males under 5, 2 aged 5-10, 1 at 10-15, 1 was 15-20, 1 at 20-30, 1 aged 30-40, he was 40-50, 1 female at 30-40, 1 was 40-50, and 1 at 50-60. Next door was William Whitley, followed by Josiah Whitley.
11/26/1850 Dist 79, St Clair Co, MO. The census taker found Randolph living in the same area as brother John and William. Randolph was a 50 year old farmer with real estate worth $1200. Second wife, Rebecca, was 38 and the children were Robert, 17, Jefferson, 14, James W and Wm T, 10, and Josiah, 8. Living with them was Sarah Anderson, 11, (probably Rebecca's daughter).
Local records have his birth place as TN and the 1850 census says he was born in NC.
