He was 41, Mahala was 23. They had children: Moses F, 10; Marietta, 8; Martha, 7; William, 5; and Amanda S, 3.
1851 Webster Co, IA, near Ft Dodge. Daughter Marietta at age 82 remembered:
Her mother died when she was 5 years old.
She moved with her father and step-mother when they left IL in 1851 and headed west, landing near Ft Dodge, IA in 1852. Both of her brothers fought in the Civil War, enlisting at Ft Dodge but only one survived, name unspecified.
