Notes for Mary "Polly" TAYLOR

Events in Mary's life after Solomon's death:

1866 She was assessed for $238 property: 2 horses = $80, 3 cattle = $45, 1 hog = $5, carriage = $15, 1 watch = $3, & $30 enumerated property. She also had 6 acres in corn, 250 in corn.

7/5/1870 Still Morgan Twp. She was probably still on the home place at census time. She was 48 and had inherited property valued at $2500/300. Sons Hiram, 12, and Thomas, 10, wre the only other ones in the house. Next door was a Nesbit family.

1879 Oakland, Coles Co, IL, where she was listed as a farmer.

6/11/1880 At census time she was listed at 50, son Thomas was 20 and a farmer. Hired hand, CC Nesbit, 21, was counted there as a farm laborer.

1900 Morgan Twp, Coles Co, IL. At age 69, she was living with son, Thomas, and his family at census time.

1910 Same place. Was it this Mary who was head of the house at age 74 at census time, living Mary Easton and Marion Taylor.

She was in the 1900 census.
