1782 Tax List:
Ambrose Blackburn’s District: (Central part of present-day Stokes County)
Anthony Collins 100a Neatman Crk

1784-1787 Blackburn's Dist, Surry Co, NC state census lists Anto. Collins with 1 white male age 21-60, 3 white males under 21, and 1 white female, no slaves. Next door was Roger Collins.

From the Moore family history:

"Andrew Moore sold his 213 acres is Surry County, NC (later the NE corner of Stokes County) in May of 1787. Andrew was living in Wilkes County, NC, in 1790 with the Gibson and Collins families as they started migrating west to Tennessee."

1800 Salisbury, Stokes Co, NC. At census time Anthony and Jeremiah were the only Collins in the county. Anthony's household included: 2 males under 10, 2 at 10-15, 2 were 16-25, himself, over 45, 2 females under 10, and 1 also over 45. Four doors down lived Archibald Campbell with William Campbell farther down, probably in-laws of son Aaron.

1810 Stokes Co, NC. That year the county took a census of "Persons engaged in Manufacturing." Several columns of the census were unreadable but of those that were, Anthony's household included 1 person in manufacturing, 100 yards, no gallons, no tanned hides, and Sperrets valued in dollars was $50. The next name was John Campbell. On the next page were William and John Collins and with Jeremiah and Edwards Collins on the next 2 pages.

1810 Peters Creek/Meadows Twp, Surry Co, NC. The federal census counted Anthony's family there. Apparently they had moved between the time of the 2 census numerations. Anthony's family consisted of 2 males under 10, himself at 45+, 2 females under 10, 2 were 10-15, and 1 at 45+. John Campbell was next door.

1820 Capt Winfrey's Dist, Surry Co, NC. The census taker recorded his age at 26-45 and living with him were 1 female at 10-16 and 1 aged 26-45. He was in agriculture. (Ages indicate a younger family than this Anthony, perhaps Anthony Jr?) In the same area were sons William, John and Aaron. In Capt Dennies Dist, same county, was Obadiah Collins.

1830 Surry Co, NC. At census time he was 60-70 years old and had living with him 2 males 15-20, 1 female aged 20-30, 1 at 40-50 and 1 at 60-70. Next door neighbors were John Jester and Isaac Williams.

1840 Coles Co, IL. Could he be the 80-90 year old man living with son Aaron?

LDS records say he died in 1835 in Surry Co, NC but there are indications that he moved to IL with sons Aaron and Adam.
