10/2/1850 Dist 41, Jasper Co, MO. The census taker found the young couple living there. Adam M was a 23 year old farmer without property, Martha was only 16. Smith families lived on either side of them.
8/3/1860 PO Ft Scott, Bourbon Twp, Kansas Territory. In that census his family lived two doors down from his parents with sister Martha between. Adam was 33 years old, still farming with property valued at $300. Wife Martha was 27 and they had 2 daughters: Elizabeth, 7, and Frances M, 2.
7/18/1870 Lincoln, Crawford Co, KS. At census time his family consisted of himself, age 44, a farmer with personal property only which was worth $275, wife Martha, 36, Elizabeth J, 16, Margaret F, 12, Mary F, 7, George W, 5, and Etta F S, 1. Two doors down was brother John.
6/3/1880 Little Cana, Chautauqua Co, KS. Recorded as A M at age 50, born KY, he hadn't age much in the past 10 years. He was still farming but had been unemployed for 2 months in the past year. In the household were Martha, 48, Mary, 18, Etta, 11, and Chas W, 7.
