John was a leather merchant. He and brother, Frederick, were co-executors of their father's estate and (probably) bought out the father's leather stock to form their own company. He was also partner in George Hite & Co.
Residences & events:
1770 Arrived in America (possibly Philadelphia or Baltimore). He was said to have landed in the neighborhood of Patrick Henry and was on hand to hear the famous speech "Give me liberty or give me death."
