Residences & events:
Ireland where family names have been found in local history. From Scots-Irish:
"Hamilton founded the towns of Bangor and Killyleagh, in county Down, and there is no doubt that he did "plant" the land which he had acquired with Scottish tenants, the most of them evidently from the same counties in Scot-land--Ayr, Renfrew, Wigtown, Dumfries, and Kirkcudbright--as the men who followed Montgomery. The names of some of those who held farms from the Hamilton estates in 1681 and 1688 appear on rent-rolls of those years as follows (Hamilton Manuscripts, pp. 108-111, 125-131), the majority of these residing in and near the towns of Bangor and Killyleagh:" The list includes James, John and Caghtry McConnell as well as Widow Purdy.
