Robert is our immigrant ancestor as far as we know, unless his father came too.

Residences & events in his life:

Robert's parents moved from Scotland to Ireland when he was baby.

1712-1718 He arrived in America.

1720-1722 Huntingdon Co, NJ where he owned a farm.

Ten Mill Hill, near Charleston, SC.

Lancaster Co, PA. His neighbor was James McConnell, their grandchildren would eventually marry.

County deed books recorded the following land transfers:

7/1/1762 Pa. Land Co. gr. 335a to Robert McIlvain--adj owners: John Feree

8/18/1762 Robert McIlwain & w. Mary: X of Stras. tp rel. to Thomas Erwin of Stras. tp L314

11/5/1762 Pa. Land Co rel. to John Slaymaker of Strasburg tp L875
346a-Strasburg tp: Robert Mucklewain, Henry Slaymaer intended land
Trustees of Land Co are.......
10 Dec 1761, signed Joseph Smith, Benj'n Shoemaker

Robert must have had a large estate as his will was not proved until 5/3/1760. In it were named only his wife, Isabella and son, Moses. Co-executors were Moses and James Miller, Moses' father-in-law and family friend.
