Notes for George Riley PARKER

George was probably Jacob's son from a prior marriage as Malinda would have been only 16 when he was born and one census said she had only 7 children, 5 of which would have been Gipsons.

Residences & events:

1870 Jasper Co, IL. At age 13, he was listed in the census as a farm worker on his stepfather's farm.

1880 Crooked Creek Twp, Jasper Co, IL was where the census taker found still living with his mother as a school teacher. It also recorded his surname as Gibson.

1880 Coles Co, IL, where he was married.

7/24/1888 Farlow, Moultrie Co, IL. George became the 3rd postmaster of that office and serrved 1 1/2 year. The name of the station was eventually be changed to Allenville, IL.

1891 E Nelson Twp. He was elected township supervisor.

1896 Dora Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. Under the Democratic ticket he was elected as Pound Master (duties of such are unknown).
