Van Gundy Family Tree

Notes for James Demey ODOM

Residences & events:

1860 Bourbon Twp, Kansas Territory was where the census taker found the family. James, a farmer with $500 in real estate, was 32 year old while Mary was 31. Living with them were son John, 4, and possibly James' brother as farm laborer.

The 1905 History of Crawford Co, KS says:

"Woolery Coonrod, Sr., was about the earliest settler, coming in 1856, Elisha Black, Sr., coming about the same time.....Other early settlers were....James Odom."

And again:

"Mary Coonrod was the wife of James Odom, an early settler. They had only one child, John W. Odom, who lives near McCune."
