Newly widowed, she was head of the house in 1860, living 2 doors down from her sister, Sarah Myers. She was 46, had taken charge of the farm as her occupation was "farm overseer," and property =$3200/1150. Several children lived there: John, 24; David, 22; Elijah, 19; Margaret, 14; Elizabeth, 11; Jane, 8; and Sarah, 6.
Apparently Margaret never remarried after David's death as she was still a Simmons in the 1880 census as head of the house. She lived next door to sister Sarah and William Myers at that time. She was 66 and had 3 spinster daughters living with her: Margaret 33, Elizabeth, 30, and Jane, 26. Two doors down was son John and next door to him was son David.
