Most researchers assume Nicodemus was the son of Joshua and Rebecca Arnold but that Nicodemus lived in OH near Joshua and died there.

1830 Licking Co, OH. The Ohio census index lists Nichademus Chilcart and Hethcoate Chilcote living there that year but that census has not been added by Ancestry.com. They only list Nicodemus in Crawford Co, OH but that man was still there in 1850.
1840 Harmony Twp, Delaware Co, OH. On the westward move, Nicodemus and John were living side by side at census time. Nicodemus was 30-40 years old and had in his family 2 males under 5, 1 aged 5-10, 2 females at 5-10, 1 was 10-15, and probably his wife, also 30-40. Seven doors down the road were Anna's parents.
8/16/1850 Harmony Twp, Morrow Co, OH. The family probably never moved but rather a new county was formed in 1848 and they found themselves in the new one. At census time Nicodemus was a 45 year old farmer with real estate worth $3000. Annie was 42 and the family consisted of Benjamin, 19, Ruthy, 17, Rhodie, 15, Hethcoat, 12, Melinda, 9, Joshua, 6, Jemima, 4, and Naomi, 1. Down the road lived the Joshua G Chilcote family and farther down was Hethcoat, 29.
8/22/1860 Grandview Twp, Edgar Co, IL. On the westward move where the census taker found him and recorded his age at 53 (was actually 56), his property at $800/1100 and said he was a farmer. Anna was 52, children at home were Joshua M, 16, farm laborer; Jemima E, 14; Naomi, 11; Charles N, 8; plus a Benjamin Hood, 14. Next door neighbors were David Stanbeck and George Alexander. Two doors down was son Benjamin.
5/30/1868 Douglas Co, IL. No current residence was given when he bought 40 acres of railroad property at S2 R09E T14N for $10.00/acre.
8/23/1870 Bowdre Twp, PO College Grove, Douglas Co, IL, at census time he was 63 years old, had property = $4800/0 and was a "minister of the gospel." At home with him was wife Anna, 62, son Charles, 18, as farm laborer, daughter, Jemima Done (Doing), 24, probably widowed, and her son, John W Done (Doing), at 6. The neighbors were G W Hall, and W L Langley.
12/31/1870 Douglas Co, IL. He bought more railroad land at the same location as in 1868, again for $10/acre. He bought 2 plots containing 38.61 acres each.
Chesterville, Douglas Co, IL, where he died, possibly while living with daughter, Jennie Davis.
His birth date may be 10/10/1806 as some researchers say.
Cemetery records say he died 12/23/1876.
His wife relinquished her right of administration of his estate to son, Charles. Mentioned were children, Benjamin G, Ruth Bockover, Rhoda Fritz, Hethcote, Malinda Beedle, Joshua M, Jemima E Davis, Naomi Newman, Chas N and James McCracken, minor child of Mary Chilcote McCracken. FM Rush and George H Mason supplied the security bond and Caleb Bales, WN Shaw and Robert H Shaw were appointed appraisers. Final settlement was 1/1879.
