1860 Crooked Creek, Jasper Co, IL. That year George was a 35 year old farmer with property valued at $2500/600. Jane was 31 and the children were Margaret E, 1, and George S Davee, 8, Jane's baby brother. Why he was living with them at that time is unknown but perhaps he couldn't get along with the new step-mother.
1860 Same place. George, at 44, had increased his estate to $3500/2000 and was still farming. Jane was 41, Margaret was 11, Martha, 4, and Benjamin, 4 mo.
George remarried 10 months after Jane's death and had 4 more children.
His biography written in the 1884 History of Jasper County Illinois says that he "now owns and occupies a fine farm of 400 cres, and as good a house as there is in the township. He is a general farmer, and deals in stock quite extensively. In politics he is a Republican, and was a true friend to the soldier of the late war.....Mr. Conner and wife are both members of the Christian Church, and are very highly esteemed by all who know them."
