6/23/1900 Grant Twp, Decatur Co, KS. The census taker found the young couple just down the road from his parents. Ira was 25, as was Lulu. They had been married 3 years and she had birthed only 1 child, Archie, 2. Ira's occupation was farming.
5/10/1910 Same place. That year Ira was listed in the census as a general farmer at age 39. He had been married 13 years to Lulu, 31, who had birthed 5 children, all living: Archie, 12, Opal, 9, Samuel, 7, Violet, 5, and Rose, 2.
1/29/1920 Still there. At census time Ira V was a 45 year old farmer on his own farm. Lula M was 40 and they had a full house: Archie A, 20, Opal S, 19, Samuel A, 17, Violet M, 15, Rose M, 11, Henderson C, 5, and Ruby E, 7 months. Six doors down the road was brother Frank followed by sister Leah and Edgar Wickersham and their 76 year old widowed mother, Sarah. Farther down the road was brother Elmer.
