Philip was a brother to David and half brother to Adam Firebaugh, both of whom also married Van Gundy girls.

1806--8 Ross Co, OH. He was one of the early settlers there.
The History of Ross Co, OH, Harrison Twp contains the following item:
"Between 1806 and 1810, the settlement was increased by the arrival of George Stanhope, Lawrence Russell. John Russell, Philip Feirbaugh, Anthony Raypholtz (now known as Raypole), James Armsey and Joseph Moore. The two last named came about 1810, and the others earlier."
1802 The Methodists organized a church on Philip's land just west of the schoolhouse. There is no evidence that Philip or Barbara were members however.
1810-12 Philip, as a United Brethren, was an early member of the Eatham church organized then. "The church stood in the western part of the township in the valley of the Little Walnut."
1830 Harrison Twp, Ross Co, OH. The census recorded living in his house: 1 male under 5 years of age, 1 at 15-20, Philip was 40-50, 1 female aged 5-10, 3 were 10-15, 1 at 15-20, and 1 also 40-50.
