Notes for Amassa Needles "Massey" CLYMER

The Needles name came from his maternal grandparents.

Apparently he was a preacher as several marriages have been found that listed him as the marrying man.

Residences & events:

1810 Fairfield Co, OH, was where his name appeared on the tax list that year.

1820 Violet Twp, Fairfield Co, OH. He was not listed in the census that year but in view of the 1830 census, the couple probably lived with Massey's father who lived next door to Nancy Climer. They probably took care of the old gentleman and his family until he died.

1830 Violet Twp, Fairfield Co, OH. Listed as Masa Climer by the census taker, he lived next door to Nancy Climer. His household included 2 males under 5 years of age, 1 at 5-10, he was 30-40, 1 female at 5-10, 1 at 10-15, and 1 at 20-30.

1850 New Durham, La Porte Co, IN. The census recorded Massey at age 56, no occupation, wife Elizabeth, 46, and children: Peter, 28, a farmer; Henry, 24; John and George, 19; Thomas, 16; Charles, 14; and Elizabeth 12.

If Massey died in Rock Island, IL, they must have left IN shortly after the 1850 census.
