HUMBOLDT -- Kenneth Hance, age 87, of Humboldt, passed away 10:28 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Rev. Stephanie Johanpeter officiating. Interment with military rites by VFW Post 4325 were in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. VFW members participating were John Protz, detail commander; Larry Owen, Chaplain; George McMichaels, Larry Smith, Scott Buesking and Cliff Roling, Color Guard; and Geno Espe, Tuny Cox, Bill Nash, Murphy Hott and Ronald Smith, firing squad. The organist, Kay Bugenhagen, played "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden." Pallbearers were Bruce and Brian Daily, Chris Moresi, Ryan and John Redd and Don Hance. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Copeland, Robert Yoder, Willis and Nelson Otto and Brian Foutch. Kenneth Hance was born March 2, 1920 at Newman, Illinois, a son of Joe B. and Daisy Dean Whitley Hance. He married Doris E. Daily August 22, 1944 at Cooks Mill, Illinois. Surviving are his wife, Doris; daughters, Joyce Redd and husband Ron of Hamel, IL and Marilyn Moresi and husband Bob of Creve Coeur, MO; and a sister, Wilma Andres of Humboldt. He also leaves grandchildren, Ryan Redd, Rebecca Foutch and husband Brian, John Redd and wife Michelle, Christopher Moresi and wife Amy, Nancy Vesters and husband Mark and Kathryn Moresi; great-grandchildren, Sam Redd, Kenny and Maddie Foutch, Carver and Nathan Redd and Alex Moresi. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Duane Hance and one sister, Lois Ashworth. Mr. Hance was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant in the field artillery. Kenneth was a farmer and enjoyed caning chairs and weaving baskets as hobbies.
