1830 Washington Co, IN, was where the census taker found him. Living at his house were 3 males under 5, 1 at 5-10, 2 were 15-20, 1 at 40-50, 1 female aged 5-10, 2 at 10-15, 1 was 15-20, and 1 at 40-50. Three doors down was son Charles with brother Charles down the road in the other direction.
1840 Franklin Twp, Washington Co, IN. The census recorded James at 50-60 years of age and his household included 3 males aged 10-15, 1 at 15-20, 1 female at 15-20, and 1 at 50-60. Edmund lived just down the road.
10/26/1850 Michigan Twp, Clinton Co, IN. In that census were James Dailey, 64, farmer with real estate worth $1500. Wife Elizabeth was 62, children listed were Elizabeth S, 16, Andrew J, 10, and David, 21, farmer. From the order of listing indicates Elizabeth and Andrew were Elizabeth's children, David from a previous wife. Both James and Elizabeth were born in NC, the children in IN.
