"On March 2, 1787, Edward Palmer bought 150 acres land where he built a plantation. A portion of this plantation was left to his son James Palmer upon his death. When Davidson County was born from Rowan County in the 1800's, portions of this land became part of Davidson County, North Carolina."
1790 Rowan Co, NC. At census time he was the only Palmer in the county. His house contained 3 males over 16, 1 under 16 and 3 females. Son-in-law William Daily was also listed in that county.
1800 Salisbury Twp, Rowan Co, NC. Counted in that census were Edmond Palmer, over 45, and 1 female over 45. In that same area were daughter Ruhanna and Abraham Pipinger and sons James, Philip, and John..
The Will of Edmond Palmer
North Carolina, 1820
In the Name of God amen I Edmond Palmer of Rowan County and State of North Carolina being in good health of body and of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to Die do constitute this my last will and Testament principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it my body to be Decently intered at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting but at the General Resurection I shall Receive the same a gane by the mighty power of God and as touching such Wordly Estate as it has Plesed God to bless me in this life which I give Devise and Dispose of in the following manner and form that is to say --
1st I give and bequeath to my well beloved Daughter Hannah the whole of my land that I am possessed and
2ndly I give and bequeath to my well beloved Grandsons namely Edmond Palmer and Bowlby Palmer sons of James Palmer and Edmond Briggs son of James Briggs the some of Five Dollars to Each to be raised off my Goods and Chattels
3rdly I will and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Hannah Martha Palmer all and singular of my Estate Real and personal During her natural life
4thly and lastly of all my will is that after the Death of my Wife all personall property part of my Estate that is then remaining be sold and Equally Divided amongst my well beloved Children namely Sarah and Philip and Ruhannah and Hannah and John B. and my will Is that my well Beloved son James have Two shears and likewise my will is that my well beloved Dauter Mary have Forty shillings only for her Dowery ----
Further I Do hereby Constitute and appoint my two sons James and John to be my Executrix [sic] to this my last will and Testament having all other former wills or Testaments by me made ratifying and Confirming this no other to be my last will and Testament and In Witness wereof I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this Forth day of October and in the year of our lord one Thousand Eight hundred and ten Sined Sealed in the presents of who in the presents of Each other have hereunto set our hands
