Notes for Elijah BERRY

According to the "History of Mayesville and Mason County" George joined his brother Elijah in December 1784 at the Kenton's station at Limestone Creek.

"The Frontiersmen" by Allan W. Eckert -
page 285 - Dec 1784, "The families of Bethel Owen, William Maddox, Job Masterson and William Henry all arrived the same day and put down their roots at Limestone. George Berry and his family came from Kentons childhood home area to settle at Limestone too, and when George's brother Elijiah, who had come to Kentucky with the Kentons heard about it, he moved his own family from Salt River to Limestone to join him.

Page 428 - April 5, 1799, Kenton returns to the place Indians tortured him 21 years later. " The party the frontiersman led here was a large one, including not only himself, Elizabeth and five Kentonchildren, but also Elizabeth's family, the Jarboes, Martha's family, and the Dowdens, the Elijah Berry family, the William Ward family, the John Humphries family and twelve Negro servants."
