1850 Darwin Twp, Clark Co, IL. Rubartes and Margaret were both 49 years old, birth places unknown. Living with them were Rachel, 22, Elizabeth, 20, Mary, 15, Thomas, 13, and Margaret, 9, all born in IL, probably all Margaret's children. Rubartus was a farmer. Elliott's in the county were from KY.
8/25/1860 Darwin Twp, Clark Co, IL. The census listed Rubartes, 45, living alone. He was a farmer with property worth $300/20. Apparently he and Margaret were separated because she lived in the same township as head of the house: Margaret Guy, 57, born VA, with only $40 in personal property, and living with her were children Nancy Porter, 31, born IN, Elizabeth Elliot, 26, and William T Guy, 20, both born in IL; and Nancy's two children, Rachel J, 10, and William, 3, also born IL.
7/9/1870 Same place. Back together again before the next census, Rubartus was 55, Margaret was 67. Rubartus was still farming with $300 in real estate, no personal property recorded. Living with them was Catherine Shewmaker, 23, housekeeper. Three doors down was Margaret's daughter, Elizabeth and James Shorter.
6/2/1880 Still there. That year the census recorded him as Ribartis, a widower at age 63, and still farming. Both parents were born in VA. He was the only Guy in the county and Margaret's children were gone as well.
