8/5/1850 Vienna Twp, Scott Co, IN was where the census taker found the family and recorded Francis P McGuire, 34, a farmer without real estate. Martha Jane was 31 and their children were Isaac W, 10, Josiah, 9, Elizabeth, 7, James W, 4, and Rachel Ann, 1.
1854-1857 Coles Co, IL where son Thomas was born. The family joined Daily relatives there.
8/24/1860 S Okaw Twp, PO Mattoon, Coles Co, IL. That census listed him as Frank, 43, with wife Jane, 40, and a large family consisting of Isaac, 23, James, 19 (should be Josiah), Elizabeth, 17, James, 14, Rachael, 12, Henry, 10, and Thomas, 6. The occupation of Frank and the older boys was day laborer, Frank had only personal property which was worth $125. Down the road were Daily, Floyd, and Porter families, all relatives.
8/11/1870 Okaw Twp, PO Okaw, Coles Co, IL. This was probably the same place as the previous census. That year the census taker must have misunderstood as Frank was listed as Thomas, 55, still farming with property worth $200/150. Martha was 52 and still at home were Henry, 16, mail carrier; Thomas, 13, and James, 23. Josiah Daily was on the next page of the census.
6/1/1880 Charlotte, Bates Co, MO. In that census Francis was a 65 year old farmer, wife Martha was 62. Son Thomas, 23, was still at home working on the farm. The families of son Henry and several other McGuires were in the same county.
He probably was not born in AL because there is no evidence his parents were ever there, but because some descendants say he was, and until further information is found, it will remain posted here as such..
