1850 Where was Samuel? He was not listed with his mother and brother in that census.
7/2/1870 Jefferson Twp, Lincoln Co, WV. At census time Samuel Gundy was 26 years old, a farmer with property worth $300/125. Martha was 23 and little William A was 4 months. Next door was his mother Susan Dotson and brother Lewis.

Samuel's occupation was farming. An Irvin Dottson lived 2 doors down but he was too old to be a step-brother. Lewis lived in the same area.
6/9/1900 Still there. Samuel Vangunday's family had grown immensely by census time that year. He was 57 years old, had been married 31 years. Samuel was still farming. Son Harrison lived next door.
4/18/1910 Same address. The census taker recorded Samuel Gundy, 67, a general farmer, married 41 years with 8 of their 11 children still alive. Martha was 61 and the only child still at home was Emmer, 17. Son Harrison was still next door and a few doors down the other direction was son Clinton. Farther down was a Lee Gundy, 20, born WV, living with the Guy Fry family as a hired man. Who was he?
