Notes for Edward BLANEY

In a letter of 9/17/1621, recorded by the Virginia Company of London, he spelled his name Blayney. According to the letter he had been requested to inspect an East India ship, the James Ryale, and report on its commodities. He said "I doe find hir ladinge to be most peper, haueing in hir of that Comoditie about 900 C Tonnes, some Cloues & Mace, & a few nutmiggs, lickewise some China silkes, but very fewe; for the pep, it is not of yor Bantam sort, but by them esteemed farr better than any that ever came into England...."
