6/15/1860 LaPorte, Sierra Co, CA. Brother Jacob was listed as head of the house in that census for some unknown reason but Joseph had all the property. Joseph, 40, born in France, was a merchant with a large estate worth $6400/3000. Wife Catherine was 27 and they had 3 children: Catherine, 10, Joseph, 5, and Charles, 1.
Joseph was probably buried in Spring Grove Cem with wife Catherine and his sister Phoebe who were already there.
