4/29/1910 Same place. That year at census time the family lived 2 doors down from Vadie's parents. Joe E was listed at 42, married 20 years to Vadie, 34, with 8 children, all living. In the household were Minnie, 18, Janie, 14, Nelson, 12, Annie, 8, Anderson, 6, and Richard, 1 yr 11 mo. Joe was a general farmer.
1/10/1920 St Elmo, Avena Twp, Fayette Co, IL. was probably their address in previous census records too as they owned their home free of mortgage. Joseph E "Hufford" was 52, Vadie was 45. They still have 5 children in the house: Anderson, 15, Ruchard S, 11, Louis, 9, Gold V, 7, and Nellie, 2 yrs 4 mo. Joseph's occupation was tiemaker at a timber company.
1930 Still there. By that census time Joseph E was a 62 year old laborer at odd jobs. He had married at age 21, Vada, 54, was only 14 at the time. They still owned their house which was valued at $1000. Children still at home were Richard L, 21, cook in a paint sang (?); Lewis, 19, laborer in a tire factory; and Goldie V, 17.
