Moving west as did the rest of Mary's family before the next census, William was 34, Mary, 30, and in the household were their children, Julia A, 11, and Thomas J, 9, as well as 3 Burton children, Henry, 7, Jerald, 5, and Mary E, 1. All children were born in IN except Mary, who was born in IL. In the same township was Levi Wilcox and family. Mary's half-brother or cousin?
6/2/1870 Scott Twp, PO Champaign, Champaign Co, IL was the family address at next census time. He was 44, still farming with property worth $1200/732. Mary J was 40 and the house was full wtih Thomas, 19, Gerald, 15, Mary E, 11, Savanna J, 8, and Alice M, 2.
6/8/1880 Same place. That year the house had cleared out somewhat, leaving only William, 54, Mary J, 51, Alice, 12, and Asbury, 6. William's occupation was still farmer.
