Notes for Francis FLOYD

Residences & events:

1840 Franklin Twp, Washington Co, IN. The census listed in the household: 3 males under the age of 5, 1 at 5-10, at 10-15, 1 was 15-20, Francis at 30-40, 1 female under 5, 1 age 5-10, and 1 at 20-30. No other Floyds lived in that county but there were Daileys.

10/16/1850 Same place. The census taker recorded Francis, age 50, as a farmer with $900 in real estate. Wife Susannah was 48 and their large family consisted of James M, 26, Lydia A, 18, Jeremiah R, 114, Emera, 13, Rachel, 12, David, 8, and Catherine J, 6. The two older sons were also farmers. All the children were born in IN, the parents in NC. They were the only Floyds in the county.

6/8/1860 Polk Twp, PO Flowers Gap, Washington Co, IN. That year Francis "Floid" was 60 years old with $1500/500 worth of property. Susan was 57, still at home were David, 19, laborer, and Catherine, 15, spinster. Next door were son Emery and his bride living with the Frederick Buckhart family.

7/26/1870 Still in Polk Twp. Francis, 71, was still farming with property valued at $1000/500. Susanna was 65 and they lived alone but next door was son David and family.

Francis was a twin to Basil.

Some family listings say Francis died 7/17/1890 but Susanna was a widow and living with son Emory in 1880.
