John was a farmer with $1600 in real estate, Rake and Zeph were laborers. Fredrick and Sophia Doudle lived next door and were most likely John's parents.

8/6/1870 Central Twp, PO Creve Coeur, St Louis Co, MO. By census time that year farmer John Dautel, 51, had amassed a huge estate for the day amounting to $14,000/800. The family had increased considerably as well. Counted there were wife Elizabeth, 38, and severn children: Alex, 20, Chas, 16, Mary, 14, Lizzie, 12, Jeffers, 10, Harry, 8, and Missouri, 5. Jacob Scheffen, 27, farm laborer from Bavaria, lived with them. The children were all born in KY except for Missouri, obviously born in MO.
This entire family disappears after 1870. Where did they go?
