6/15/1917 Talpa, Runnels Co, TX was the address he gave when registering for the WWI draft. His name was printed as Peter Vinsion Whitley. He verified his brith date and place, said he was a self employed farmer at Crews, TX, and was married with two children and gave support for them as reason for deferment. He signed as P. V. Whitley. The Registrar's Report described him as medium height, stout build with gray eyes and light hair.

1/3/1920 Police Jury Ward 2, Caddo, LA. He had moved and changed occupations before the next census. He was listed as Pete V Whitley, 30, with wife Velma, 30, and two children, Robert L, 7, and Anna O, 5? The whole family was born inTX. He was a pumper in the oild field.

4/7/1930 Pct 1, Gulf 8 ? Camp, Stephens Co, TX. Back nearer home, it seems they lived in an oil field camp. Recorded in the census was Peter V, 40, married to Velma E, also 40, both married at age 21. The family had grown to include: Robert L, 17, Aubrey O, 15, Hubert W, 8, Elvert V, 7, and Lois O, 5. Peter owned the home with a $100/month mortgage and wored as a labore in the oil field.
