9/4/1839 Rachel brought suit against step-son-in-law, Sanford Greenfor $99.00, details were
not given but she won the case and wasawarded $93.00 plus court costs of $3.6 1/4 for papers,
cost ofswearing 4 witnesses, constables for a total of $96.6 1/4. Also in 1839 she was listed as Rachel Patterson, plaintiff, in a courtsuit against the heirs of husband, John Powell, probably when shepetitioned to sell his land to settle the estate. |

Her gravestone only states she died in her 67th year. A family note said "Uncle Nelson was 17 when his mother died," can only apply to this lady, all other Nelsons in the family and area were much older when their mothers died. By doing some arithmetic, her approximate birth and death dates have been determined. |
