Sarah came to Illinois with her parents, Mr and Mrs jacob harbaugh, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, her grandfather, James Paterson, and several aunts and uncles. They arrived in Edgar Co in 1828, then on to Shelby Co in the spring of 1832. "Her parents made a home in the wilderness on a tract of land now within the southeastern limits of Sullivan and there lived to a ripe old age." She was a charter member of the Sullivan Christian church and "was always a faithful and consistent Christian and a woman of noble character." In the 1850 census, her mother was living with her brother, John Harbaugh. 4/6/1892, Sarah signed an affidavit for cousin, Eveline Powell, widow of James, in her application for a Widow's Pension. In 1900, she lived alone on Madison St, in Sullivan at census time. |
| Her death occurred at the home of daughter, Angeline Wright. Herobituary said "death came to her peacefully and without pain, afitting ending of a long and useful life." |

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Sullivan with Rev J.W. Mathers delivering "the funeral discouse." He was assisted by Rev Cory of the Presbyterian church. Music was furnished by a quartet. Pallbearers were all grandchildren: Cash Green, Walter, James and Homer Wright, Frank and Charles McDonald. |
