In the 1870 census, Angie was still at home as a school teacher. She was described in her husband's biography: "His wife is a charmingwoman, who, while her chief interests are centered in her home andfamily, presides with great dignity and elegance over the domesticrealm. She is a delightful hostess, making rich or poor, great orsmall, feel at home and easy in her gracious presence." 1906 She was one of the first Deaconesses elected to serve in theFirst Christian Church but according to church records "theirposition is not recognized with any regularity and they held noauthority on the Board of the church." |
