Residences & events: 1850 Macoupin Co, IL. At census time he was living with hisguardian, Matthew Withrow. 8/14/1861 He enlisted in Co A 3rd IL Cav along with brother, Smith,and Francis M Purvis, as a Pvt. 4/30/1862 He received a promotion to Cpl. 9/1862 Chatham, Sangamon Co, IL. Receiving a furlough, he returnedhome only to desert and never return to his unit. It is unknown if hesuffered any consequences as a result. |
