1850 Moultrie Co, IL. George's age was recorded as 21 in the censusbut he was actually 23. He had property = $160 but no occupation andno children at that time.

1860 Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. At census time George's occupationwas laborer with property = $100. Living in his house were cousin,Vienna Bracken, 27, assistant, with property = $200/100; Mary DPurvis, 20, assistant, with property = $200; and James Purvis, 23,laborer.

3/1/1864 He enlisted in Co 18th IL Inf with the rank of Orderly Sgt.

12-16-1865 Pine Bluff, Ark. The army discharged him with the rank of1st Lt.

1876 Piatt Co, IL, near Voorhees Station. He bought a farm thereabout 5 miles south of Bement.

1877 Hammond, IL. Having sold the farm, he bought a hotel and moved.

Spring 1880 Davis City, IA. Moving west after having lost his wifeabout 2 yrs prior.

1884 Blue Hill, Neb. He and son, Owen, were still on the move again.

1887 Guthrie, OK. Several of the children joined him on thismigration. He was a farmer again there.

1905 Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. At the request of several of thechildren who had remained behind, he returned home.

Birth Note
George probably belongs to a first wife or else he was illegitimate,being born 2 yrs before George and Mary were married.
