General Note
Residences & events in his life;

1875 After his wife died, he moved back in with his parents, probably

so his family could help take care of his small daughter, Bertha.

The following is recorded in the history of the French Cemetery of

Moultrie Co, IL:

"During the funeral of Mrs. Eldridge (Matilda) A. Goodwin in 1897, the

weather was so bad that the children nearly froze. It was then

decided to build a chapel. Instead, Jack French, Walter Delana, John

D. Purvis and Columbia Misenhiemer went to the 1905 St. Louis World's

Fair and purchased a building complete with chairs. This was moved

adjacent to the cemetery. These same chairs have recently been given

to families of the interred for keepsakes. There never was an

organized church but church and Sunday school were well attended. The

chapel is now used for Memorial Services only."
